Improvisational workshop in Beatboxing
with Geo Popoff
The course intensely concentrates on the form of expression of beatboxing and exhaustively deals with the interaction of body, rhythm, breathing and voice. Focussing on improvisation and play, the course offers an extensive repertoire of voice and beatboxing techniques, sound effects, different grooves and rhythms, as well as new possibilities to experience one’s own body as a vibrant musical instrument.
All humans are individual and sound differently! Thus individual skills will be discovered and strengthened, in order to subsequently use them in improvisation and various group formats. By means of technical tools, such as the loopstation and microphones, simple vocal compositions will be created together. In doing so, creative expression will be given free rein. Beatboxing is an act of conscious breathing, which is why a further key aspect is the learning of breathing techniques. This gives beatboxing sounds the necessary power, supports focussing and facilitates a deep connection between body and voice.
