Clowning Workshop
“The poetry of failing”
with Hubert Wieser
The character of the clown carries its inner self into the outside world. They don’t tell stories using words, but their gazes, gestures and movements. Clowns fail, they stumble, they go on – and they invite us to discover the beautiful and the comical of their own vulnerability as well. They mirror the human side, the imperfect parts, and give us courage to laugh about our limits and extend them at the same time.
In this workshop we will open the room to the journey to our personal inner clown, where we explore the essence of clowning, using playful exercises, improvisation, bodywork and basic techniques. Moments full of lightness and surprise will develop step by step, in which we will experience how special strengths can grow from our own insecurities and alleged weaknesses. Clowns live through this transformation – from the joy of failing and the poetry which emerges from every mishap.
We will confront ourselves, trying to give rise to our own inner clown. This process is just as playful as it is touching: Sometimes tender, sometimes wild, sometimes silent, sometimes loud – but always carried by the wish to bring light to something real within our play.
Please bring a well fitting clown nose to the workshop with you!
